Exhibition: “Women breaking barriers. Transforming the Mediterranean cities”

The exhibition “Women breaking barriers. Transforming the Mediterranean cities” is part of Women for Change project, an awareness and education campaign for global citizenship (ECG), designed by Barcelona Provincial Council within the framework of the EqualMed project, which aims to highlight the struggles of women to gain access to spaces for political and social participation on both shores of the Mediterranean.

It collects ten selected images and stories of female protagonists who risk going against the established norms, shake up the imposed order and represent a primordial and transcendental role in building the cities of the and with a future: egalitarian, feminist and democratic. Women from Algeria, Belgium, Egypt, Israel, Morocco, Palestine and Turkey who break traditional gender roles and fight against inequalities in the labor market and education and who occupy a public space dominated by men.
